How Are Dream11 Points Calculated? (Scoring Guide)

Date: February 26, 2026

Dream11 is one of India’s most popular fantasy sports platforms. Millions of users build virtual teams every day and compete for real prizes. But to win, you need to understand one thing well: how Dream11 points work.

The Basics: How Points Get Assigned

Every player in your Dream11 team earns points based on their actual performance in a real match. The better your chosen players perform on the field, the higher your total score. Points get updated live during the match, but they stay open to change until the match status shifts to “Completed.”

How Points Get Assigned

Every player earns 4 points simply for being part of the playing XI. This means even if a player does not bat or bowl, they still contribute a small number of points to your team.

Captain And Vice-Captain Multipliers

Your choice of captain and vice-captain matters a lot. The captain gets 2x points for their performance, while the vice-captain gets 1.5x points. So if your captain scores 60 fantasy points in a match, your team actually gets 120 from that player alone. Picking the right captain can often decide whether you win or lose.

Batting Points

Batting points form a large chunk of your total score. Here is how they break down in T20 matches:

Every run scored earns 1 point. A boundary gives 1 extra bonus point, and a six adds 2 bonus points. Scoring a half-century adds 8 bonus points. A century earns 16 bonus points, but the half-century bonus does not apply on top of it. Getting out for a duck costs a batter, wicket-keeper, or all-rounder 2 points.

Bowling Points

Bowlers can score big in Dream11. Each wicket taken earns 25 points. Taking 4 wickets in an innings adds 8 bonus points, and a 5-wicket haul earns 16 more. A maiden over adds 8 points to a bowler’s total. The economy rate also plays a role: bowling at a lower economy rate earns bonus points, while leaking runs at a high rate earns negative points.

Fielding Points

Catches, stumpings, and run-outs all count. A catch earns 8 points. A stumping gives 12 points. For a run-out, the points depend on whether it was a direct hit or not.

Strike Rate Bonus

Batters who play at a high strike rate get extra points. Strike rate scoring only applies when a strike rate falls below 70 runs per 100 balls for penalties. Batters who score quickly above 140 runs per 100 balls earn bonus points.

A Few Things to Note

Dream11 does not count any runs or wickets from a super over while calculating points. Also, the points system varies across formats. T20, ODI, Test, and T10 all follow different scoring rules. So always check the format before building your team.

Understanding this system helps you make smarter picks and build teams that consistently score high.
